To reduce the regulatory burden on Startups, Telangana allows self-certification of compliance under applicable labour laws, enabling founders to focus on their core business and keep compliance costs low.
Self-certification under labour laws
- The Equal Remuneration Act, 1976
- The Minimum Wages Act, 1948
- The Telangana Shops and Establishments Act, 1988
- The Payment of Bonus Act, 1965
- The Payment of Wages Act, 1936
- The Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972
- The Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970
- The Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1979
- The Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996
- The Motor Transport Workers Act, 1961
Low-risk startups may be inspected only once in 5 years (except on credible written complaint). An online self-certification portal supports the process. The state also publishes draft regulations for disruptive technologies and hosts quarterly ecosystem meetups (VR, AgriTech, HealthTech, etc.).
